Misc Fings

I seem to take too many photographs and then I can not remember what the reason was - obviously the subject matter may be a clue but like my own handwriting I cannot decipher most of it.

Doubtless you lot will be blowing this up to pixel level but this reflects to be us in bed on television.  I believe this to be the first photograph taken with my super new camera Canon IXUS 115 HS.

This is Mrs N giving some directive or other somewhere or other near the Rhein possibly in relation to the next ouzo.

This is the way I feel about the 4000 books that I inherited from my dear late Father and collector of everything that I don't have space for.

This is my new summer crash helmet with a curious chin bar and very comfortable and quiet lining.

This is the dome from a cathedral of some  ancient religion that I cannot for the life of me remember what it is called.

  1. I rode a standard Tiger 800 last week - it is a tremendous machine and I'm considering one as my retirement present to myself.....

  2. Affer (or is it Stavros)

I would settle for the standard model too as it does not have that stupid BMWesque beak

  3. You were just trying to get on the telly with your bedroom antics, weren't you?

  4. That's a nice shot of the dome. I like the pattern and touches of color.

And the Tiger is too tall (grrrr!) as are most non-cruiser bikes.

  5. After I got my new camera I took pictures of my jeans I was so excited to try it out. Now I'm in the same boat, "What the hell is this even a picture of?"

  6. Hmm, I use to feel the same way about my father - a man who reckoned he could entirely replace real life with literature. But then when he died I couldn't bear to see a single one of his books thrown away.

  7. Niko, my upside-down friend. Is that Schberth lid truly yours? Have never seen one in the flesh, only adverts but they look terrific. How to the compare in price to a good Arai or Shoei? Anything Germanic used to cost an arm, keg and first-born.

Best wishes from the right side up hemisphere...

It's so hard to throw away books! (Except my University text books that I never understood then and certainly don't now)

  11. Geoff Down Under,

This is a Schuberth J1 bought for €300 at Polo in Germany
    http://www.polo-motorrad.de/en/j1-silber.html.

    Expensive but high quality.

This will be for summer riding haha, will report back soon haha.

Last year in Greece we wore Caberg fighter jet style helmets but Italian helmets, like their underwear, do not fit me so well.

As an aside, now that I have started wearing spectacles, finding a suitable helmet is a real problem now - I'm not keen riding with fogged up lenses!

  12. Nikos,
Firstly, I must apologise for mis-spelling your name on the last post. The lasagne was accompanied by a rather nice Pinot Noir which seems to have turned my fingers into bananas.

That's not hideously expensive compared with other top of the line brands (aided by our exchange rate). My Shoei is only 3 years old though and I may be stabbed to death for frivolous purchases.

I suffered the dreaded misting with glass lenses but not only am I far more attractive to the opposite sex (oh yeah?) with new rimless plastic lenses, they are significantly less prone to misting. The latter advantage holds more appeal than the former one at my age but one can dream....

Adieu and thanks for the heads-up

You were being quite clever because "Niko" is the Vocative form of "Nikos" and is quite correct when calling out to me.

    Well done and 10/10!

I'm looking at a Schuberth C3 flip up now but don't tell Mrs N....

  14. Before you buy the Sherbert, try a Givi X01 Trekker.....it's the best helmet I have ever owned since my old Griffin!

  18. Do you think it will work putting a Tiger on the Christmas list? Maybe I should try that, too.

Let me know please what you think of the Schubert helmet, it looks great.

  19. Nikos:

Your wish may come true. I'll go to the dealer and see how it costs for one of those Tiger Decals. I could just mail it over in time for Christmas, if it isn't too costly. That's what you want, Right ? . . . a Tiger Decal !

    thank me later

  21. Dear Nikos:

It starts with by taking a simple boudoir video in which the participants are suitably obscured. Then the next thing you know, you are sendig pictures of an erect penis to thosands of women you don't even know on FaceBook and Twitter.

And just when you think it can't get worse, you will wake up and find you are a member of the US Congress. Is this the sad spiral you wish to pursue?

    Fondest regards,

  23. Great eclectic collection of images. Though I am surprised that Mrs. N wasn't given directions to "where you can go" instead of ouzo. Or is that how you interpreted it?

I like the new lid. Next time take the picture with you in it. Get a better idea of size and fit. :)

Like Sonja...do ya think it will work putting it on the Christmas list? I have a few things I want to do that for...
