Island Hopping

I'm pleased to say that we are in safe hands on Motor Vessel Aghia Marina as we rattle, roll and wretch across the Ionian Sea!

Force 6 at Vassiliki

NOTOS (or Notus) was the god of the South Wind, one of the four Anemoi (Wind-Gods). He was wet, storm-bringing wind of summer.
Notos made his home in Aithiopia, the southernmost realm of Africa in the geography of myth.
Buggar Notos - I'm trying to go windsurfing and it's too rough!

The Problem with Long Legs

How do I

(a) adopt the "brace position";
(b) remove the life jacket from under my seat;
(c) drink my cabernet sauvignon?

Here Comes the Sun

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darlin' it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darlin' it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darlin' the smiles returning to their faces
Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darlin' I feel the ice is slowly meltin'
Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been clear
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
It's all right, it's all right

Athenian Antics (1)

An occasional blog spot aiming to show the Athenians at their most ingenious.

Here Stavros Hondakis demonstrates how to carry a small motorcycle home with his flying ladder model C50.

Epitaph to British Leyland

Well this is the lime green MGB but note that it seems to have quite a tasteful blue interior. My good friends used to have a Morris 1100 in Teal blue with a shitty green interior - very strange. The train behind looks nicer in my opinion.

Mountain Biking for real men

Observations formulated during back to motorcycling training in South Wales:
Obey national speed limits (weekend warriors note - you seem to be stressing the Chief Constable) except when the instructor and other trainee are a long way ahead;
By jaysus that engine pulls like a Merlin on reheat in all gears!
Be aware that the instructor seems to have eyes in the back of his head;
Avoid sheep - especially the new arrivals from the seaside - they seem keen to get back down there by whence they came i.e. the roads;
Look out for high flying red kites (birds?);
Look out for low flying C130s (metal bird);
Avoid dicing with red van man on the A40 (I've got your registration number you malakas);
Araf means slow;

South East Ireland

Here is the ferry queue at Rosslare -I sit worrying about forecast winds of 6-7 and the prospect of a sea crossing to Fishguard - not on any ordinary ferry naturally - on the high speed Stena Lynx 3 (what happened to 1 and 2 one wonders - metal fatigue?).
There had been an MG Rally near Dublin - we were in the company of lime green MGB. I muse that the British Leyland marketing department had a sense of humour. Oh and Jim, there is train parked there as well - very nice shamrock green redolent of Southern Region.
