Third lesson of Advanced Motorcycling and I'm told how and where to overtake.
The problem is how does one overtake without breaking the speed limit - mostly 50mph on the bike sanitised Cheshire A roads: To err is an instant failure in the test - to not to be seen to be making progress is subject to failure too.
Next session will be how to carry out an advanced ride on motorways. It seems that the issue here is that at a legal 70mph we will be relegated to the slow lane err sorry, lane 1.
Years ago, I took advanced riding instruction with a police bike rider, and I remember how he really took the 'making progress' bit to heart. Safely of course!
ReplyDeleteReconciling those two caused my brain to collapse in a fit of neurosis :(
ReplyDeleteFunny you should say that Highwaylass...
ReplyDeleteThe first IAM issue that made my brain (what remains of it) collapse into neurosis was reconciling the concept of always being able to stop in the distance that you can see whilst racing around blind corners at break neck speeds. Obviously had I mastered extreme positioning better the "vanishing point" would have appeared earlier (?).
