Thank you. I now have the Wombles singing in my head - underground, overground, Wombles are we...
ReplyDeleteAnd these probably aren't the correct lyrics.
Sx
Whatever happened to them?
DeleteBlimey, N, you got around a bit! Manage to get any jellied eels or pie and mash?
ReplyDelete"Underground, overground, wombling free, the wombles of wimbledon common are we" - sorry, just thought I'd help out as your resident Londoner.
I'm strictly a black pudding and spam man these days.
DeleteWombling around the Thames. Bundled up ye are!
ReplyDeleteyee hah!
DeleteGreat pictures Nikos. It looks like a great day wandering with friends.
ReplyDeleteAnd you got to eat at the Ace - jealous.
As far as I was concerned going to the Ace was the sole objective of my guided tour that day - unfortunately they wanted to see Tower Bridge too - blooming tourists!
Delete@ the ace, have u met mr mark w. or mr g.t.?
Deletenext time there, ask them: where's the greek boss???
:))
cheers patrioti
Nice pictures Nikos, looks a little blustery and cold though!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was and remains so brrrrrrrrrr
DeleteI like my porridge toppled with cinnamon and cane sugar, am I peculiar, too?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tourist pics, I was wondering if Big Ben is still there...
Just avoid mushy peas, only the best of us eat porridge!
DeleteGreat tour of London - thanks. Might get there one day - too bad it's such a long swim (smirk).
ReplyDeleteWe have a tunnel now, so Europe is not cut off anymore. The Atlantic is more of a challenge!

ReplyDeleteI'll see if I can get my spelling right this time...
DeleteHmmmmm....... more like "The Clanpetts do London" perhaps? ;-)
Gold Star type tank, BSA twin. Rocket Gold Star?? If correct, a very rare beast!
You had better come over soon to inspect the BSA in person!?
DeleteBrilliant, Scarley: I was wondering why they'd (rather counter-intuitively) put 'Underground' above 'Overground', but it's so's we can sing the lyrics to the Womble song!
ReplyDeleteI preferred the Magic Roundabout - never liked Wimbledon Common much
Deletewooooo hoooooooo - I have spam at last!
ReplyDeleteDear Sir:
ReplyDeleteWell this is spiffy. I love London, and have been here a number of times. I think Tower Bridge is one of the coolest places on earth. I think steak and ale pie for breakfast beats mushy peas and eggs any day of the week. As you are aware. I love trains, Can you explain the odd rail arrangement?
Why do I even ask this, you never explain anything.
Fondest regards,
Jack/reep
Twisted Roads
Jack,
DeleteThe lines are electrified with a four-rail DC system: a conductor rail between the rails is energised at −210 V and a rail outside the running rails at +420 V, giving a potential difference of 630 V. On the sections of line shared with main line trains, such as the District line from East Putney to Wimbledon and Gunnersbury to Richmond, and the Bakerloo line north of Queen's Park, the centre rail is bonded to the running rails.
As you said, I never explain anything, thanks for looking at my humble offering, reading my blog, and passing comment, N
