Stella has arrived and Tubbyballs has gone to a new home in Northern Ireland.
Mrs Nikos has taken refresher training and is now claiming her seat on Stella.
Mrs Nikos sustained a blow out on the Tissington Trail and I did not have a bicycle pump - I had a haircut after seeing photograph #4 below.
FRIDAY
Tubbyballs draws admiring looks from the youngsters in George street on her way to the lucky new owner in Northern Ireland. |
Mrs Nikos and Instructor Rob following a successful day in Salford - I believe that he reacquainted her with riding a motorcycle after a gap of 20 years. SATURDAY |
The junction of the High Peak and Tissington Trails - these cycle and hiking trails use disused railway line routes. |
9 miles out and Mrs Nikos buys new acquaintances Anne and Jim a cup of tea to thank them for showing me how to fix a puncture in her bicycle tyre. |
Beautiful Peak District National Park and characteristic loose stone walls dating back to the neolithic age (probably). |
Puncture fixed and we head towards Hadrian's Wall NEVER ON SUNDAY |
Stella's first outing. |
Mrs Nikos on tip toe with Stella - here ballet training has finally come in useful again . |
Ah - stopping for a Jodrell Bank, I see.
ReplyDeleteNikos:
ReplyDeleteI looked at photo #4 and all I saw was an old man with lots of grey hair working on a tyre. I think you gave us the wrong photo number. I like your Beemers, esp the faster one

Riding the Wet Coast
Bob - it can't be Nikos as I'm sure that such a distinguished engineer would be wearing lycra to cut down drag. I do - just choosy about who sees me in it.
ReplyDeleteNikos, I note the location for your dandelion harvest. Have fuel by-products settling on the roundabout greenery replaced garlic and aoli as a tasty dressing?
Greetings from a sunny but cool land down under.....

ReplyDeleteWe were looking for the Lucky Duck but it was Sunday

ReplyDeleteI might have been wearing the lycra underneath.
To make the dandelion leaves at all palatable (I use that word advisedly) Mrs N boiled them for about 24 hours then plastered them with olive oil, salt and lemon juice. By then all fuel by products had joined the ozone layer. Yuck.
all the best, N
Dear Nikos:
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you sold the K75! Then again, it was the "Dreadnaught" RT model. No doubt you are making garage space for the next K75, which will be a standard "S" or "C" model.
It is great to see Mrs. Nikos out tearing up the byways on a nice GS. I am looking forwad to meetng both of you this summer.
I had to read through everything a couple of times to determine the green stuff was dandelion. My recipe for dandelion is a bit different. Try this: collect a basket of dandelions three times a week for a month, feeding each basket to a rabbit. At the end of the month, kill and skin the rabbit, and roast with local root vegetable. Chase it with a great local beer.
Fondest regards,

Twisted Roads
Kudos for Mrs. Nikos on getting back on the horse, er..., I mean bike. Looks like she was having fun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the countryside with the stone fences. Thank you for sharing.
Is Stella named after A) McCartney's clothes-horse sprog, B) a star, C) the multiplatform Atari 2600 game-console emulator, or D) the beer?
ReplyDeleteTubbyballs is gone??!!?? We hadn't gotten the chance to know her!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm surprised that Mrs Nikos didn't sweetly hand the tea over to her new friends and dump one over year head at the same time.
But all is well that ends well and the wall was visited and dandelions were collected. Why were they collected in the fields??
If you drop the preload in the shocks on that f560 you'll significantly lower the seat height. It worked for my wife who is only 5' 4" Though, it does change the ride of the machine.
ReplyDeleteYou've got some nice photos in this set.
Sorry you had to give up a bike. It's something I'm not very good at. Hope it'll be well-care for.
Lovely photos. Ms Nikos looks good on the bike!
