Of course, when I was a young girl the white feather was still a symbol of cowardice - given to those lacking Moral Fibre in the face of the enemy. On the other hand, I thought it was a fine track on Marillion's epic LP 'Misplaced Childhood' - mainly due to Fish's supreme voice, as demonstrated during his solo act at Nelson Mande's 70th birthday tribute gig.
But I didn't like the references to illicit 'men's business' in that LP.
I believe that you can still purchase brand new Monkeys in Japan. They have started to make them again, for their home market. They have also updated the Honda 400 with FI and disc brakes.
I've never heard the term "monkey bike" before. Is that the Honda model or the style of bike? It looks a lot like the off-road mini bike my son dragged home last summer.
Nikos: I searched the crowd in vain for my wife to be! Jennie went to see the Beatles live and will admit with only the slightest of blushes to screaming herself hoarse (or should that be horse)?
I am always amazed at the eclectic nature of your blog posts, and the diverse readers it attracts. I find it hard to imagine, however, that any executive at Honda would call one of their machines the "monkey" bike.
I managed to cop my first cheap feel while the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan show. I was 10. The girl was the older, much fatter sister of my best friend at the time. I think she was 13, and deeply grateful.
JS Lefanu wrote a great though somewhat slow-moving Gothic novel about an erotic vampire named "Camilla." It came out about 1878. It's not hard to see his lead character on a motorbike, sometimes.
The world of Monkey Bikes is such a creative one - albeit that many are now the Chinese copies. My favourite version was the mini-Magna - in fact, I love it so much I'm going to do a blog on it!
Oh, that exhibition looks good. It is a pity I missed it. What frustrates me about liverpool (even though it is my second favourite city on the planet) is that the exhibitions all close at 5 or 6pm. I'm often there for business and land up with nothing interesting to do in the evenings.

PS: "before I believe that Camilla was ever a "young girl" I would need to have this verified."

ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving the, err, eclectic message, it would seem to harmonise and enhance perfectly with my paltry offering.

I'm looking forward to it - question is would I look even more of a complete berk riding one?
